Thousands of options available for OTTOs latest grip

  14/05/2018

There’s not a flight control manufacturer in the globe who isn’t aware of the quality of OTTO’s precision switches and grips.
With over 50 full-time engineers, OTTO’s ground-breaking factory - which we featured a couple of weeks ago on our news pages http://www.nexuscomponents.co.uk/News/View/A%20good%20wage,%20a%20bright%20future%20-%20OTTO%20shows%20the%20way/23 - was well placed to develop the G2, an ergonomic grip which can also be used in industrial applications.

Every day, OTTO products are out working in some of the toughest environments in the world - fixed wing aircraft, helicopters, industry and military planes.
OTTO focuses on sealed-switch technology and custom design, ensuring that whatever the customer’s need, there is a solution that will match it.

At the end of 2017, OTTO announced the development of the latest in their range, the G2 Commander Grip.  The primary component of any controller assembly, these grips can be mounted on an OTTO hall effect joystick or used as a fixed grip.
Ruggedly designed for military and aerospace use, this durable, reliable grip - cast from aluminium alloy - requires no software, and is designed to be dropped in to almost any flight control.
With a USB option to support a range of functions, the ergonomic new design offers literally thousands of custom faceplate configurations.

The OTTO G2 Commander Control Grip is suitable for use with almost any OTTO switch, and has a huge range of custom options. The internal USB device alone supports up to 18 buttons and 8 analog inputs.
Faceplate configurations include pushbutton, toggle, transducer, split trim and Hall effect switches, and the grip body has 10 possible switch location options. It is tested to withstand a 265lb load.

Since the company began, OTTO has had very strict quality standards. Military controls make up around 20% of OTTO’s business, and military design and supply was the catalyst for the founding of the family-run business.
Described as ‘a custom switch boutique’ by its founder, Jack Roeser, the company focuses on providing products to firemen, policemen, the Secret Service, and demanding applications including industry and aerospace.
All the design work, moulding, stamping, testing and engineering is done in OTTO’s own facility, rather than being outsourced.

Developing technologies - including software and rapid prototyping - have been used across both short and long runs of products, to ensure OTTOs position at the cutting edge of manufacturing.
The ability to provide all the supporting switches that the G2 needs means that OTTO will continue to be a first choice for military and aerospace designers.

The G2’s nine standard faceplate configurations include:
•    OTTO’s T3, T4 and T5 toggle switches, P4, P7 and P9 pushbutton switches,
•    K1 rocker switches,
•    SPT split trim switches,
•    J2 transducer switches,
•    FG flip guards,
•    HTWM, HTL and HTLT Hall effect switches
